1. India has joined around 100 countries in signing a joint statement criticising Israel’s reported plans related to settlements and actions in the West Bank. The statement expresses concern that such moves could increase tensions, undermine peace efforts, and harm the prospects of a two-state solution between Israel and Palestine.

2. India has taken a major step towards strengthening global food security as the Food Corporation of India (FCI) signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the World Food Programme (WFP) on 18 February 2026. Under the agreement, FCI will supply 200,000 metric tonnes of rice annually for global humanitarian operations.

3. Eight-year-old coder Ranvir Sachdeva emerged as a standout figure at the India AI Impact Summit 2026, becoming the youngest speaker to address the high-profile gathering at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. Surrounded by global technology leaders and policymakers, Ranvir described himself as a technologist and presented his ideas on linking ancient Indian philosophies with modern Artificial Intelligence (AI).

4. Secretary General of the United Nations António Guterres called on President Smt Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The President thanked Secretary General Guterres for his participation in the AI Impact Summit and welcomed his initiative to create a global scientific panel on AI to serve all of humanity.

5. India and Seychelles discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation across priority areas, including maritime security, trans-shipment opportunities, and improved market access. Both countries also discussed expanding solar and renewable energy initiatives across the island nation by leveraging India’s vast experience in the renewable sector.

6. PM Modi held a bilateral meeting with Hereditary Prince of Liechtenstein Prince Alois in New Delhi on the sidelines of the India AI Impact Summit 2026.

7. A high-level Kenyan delegation, led by the County Minister for Health, Kisumu County, Dr. Gregory Ganda, visited the National Health Authority (NHA) in New Delhi for a knowledge exchange on India’s digital health infrastructure and health insurance programmes.

1. United States clinched the Olympic gold medal in women’s ice hockey with a dramatic 2–1 overtime victory over Canada in Milan. The win marked America’s third Olympic gold in the sport and its first since 2018, ending Canada’s hopes of repeating its 2022 triumph.

2. President Donald Trump can lean on alternative legislation to try to rebuild his tariff wall, after the US Supreme Court ruled that he can’t use a 1977 emergency law to impose import taxes.

The court said that Trump exceeded his authority by invoking the International Emergency Economic Powers Act to justify his sweeping “reciprocal” duties targeting America’s trading partners, as well as separate levies aimed at China, Canada and Mexico.

3. The U.S. Department of State announced the launch of the Edge AI Package, a major foreign assistance initiative worth up to $200 million. The program aims to accelerate the deployment of secure, high-quality, and affordable handheld smartphones across the Indo-Pacific region.

4. United States President Donald Trump warned that Iran must make a deal over its nuclear program or be ready for consequences. Addressing a press conference, Mr Trump also set a deadline of 10 to 15 days, drawing a threat from Tehran to retaliate against US bases in the region, if attacked.

5. Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, has ordered the launch of a humanitarian air bridge to deliver aid to the Gaza Strip during Ramadan under Operation Chivalrous Knight 3. The air bridge will transport food parcels, medical supplies and essential items for children and women, with charitable organisations in Ajman overseeing the assembly and distribution of consignments.

6. In Nigeria, 33 people were killed in a coordinated attacks by armed militant group on a district in northwest part of the country. The assault occurred on Wednesday in the Biu community of Kebbi state.
