1. External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar has reached Johannesburg in South Africa to take part in the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (FMM).

2. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar engaged in diplomatic discussions with his counterparts from Singapore and Brazil during the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (FMM) held in Johannesburg, South Africa, on 20 February 2025.

3. India and Nepal have strengthened their scientific collaboration with a new MoU signed between CSIR (India) and NAST (Nepal) on 18 February 2025. This agreement aims to expand joint research, technology exchange, and capacity-building in fields like biotechnology, and material sciences.

4. Sri Lanka President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has said that India has used innovations to become one of the most powerful nations in the world. Delivering the keynote address at the Innovation Island Summit organised by the Observer Research Foundation in Colombo, Mr. Dissanayake said that Sri Lanka needs to follow this path traversed by India.

2. Pope Francis, the 88-year-old leader of the Roman Catholic Church, is currently hospitalised due to double pneumonia. This condition arose from a complex respiratory infection exacerbated by his pre-existing lung issues.

3. The bodies of four Israelis taken captive by Hamas, including those said to be the last female and child hostages in Gaza, were released yesterday. Israeli officials said the mortal remains now need to be formally identified.

The number of captives freed since the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas began on the 19th of last month has reached 28.

4. India’s National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG) and Sri Lanka’s Institute of Development Administration (SLIDA) have finalised the modalities for the implementation of their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to train 1,500 Sri Lankan civil service officers over five years.

5. US President Donald Trump has warned c, President Volodymyr Zelensky, that there can be a peace deal with Russia to end the three-year Ukraine War without him. The US President stated this in a social media post.

6. Microsoft has recently introduced Majorana 1, a quantum chip that promises enhanced reliability and scalability of qubits. This development marks advancement in quantum computing technology. Microsoft aims to create a fully functional quantum computer by 2027-2029.
