1. Narendra Modi held a telephonic conversation with the Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, yesterday and conveyed Eid greetings to him and the people of Qatar.

2. Sri Lanka ready to welcome and support refugees from India: Sri Lanka is ready to receive and support all those forced to flee the country during the civil war and now living as refugees in Tamil Nadu, Cabinet Minister and Leader of the House Bimal Rathnayake told.

3. Sri Lanka has approved an Indian-Sri Lankan joint venture to build a key power transmission link connecting wind energy projects in the island’s northern region. Cabinet spokesperson and Minister Nalinda Jayatissa said the government had cleared the award of a tender to Intend, which is a Joint Venture of Jyoti Structure Limited from India and Hayleys Fentons Limited of Sri Lanka.

The contract, valued at 2.27 billion Sri Lankan rupees (excluding taxes), covers the construction of a 28-kilometre, 220 KV double-circuit transmission line linking the Mannar grid substation to the Mullikulam grid substation.

1. Eid Al Fitr 2026 will be celebrated on Friday, March 20 across the UAE and several Gulf countries, after the Shawwal crescent moon was not sighted, marking the completion of a 30-day Ramadan.

2. Iran has called on countries in West Asia to prevent the United States from using military bases in their territories, saying that these bases are the root cause of the current crisis and are being used for operations against Tehran.

Pakistan has cancelled its military parade and ceremonial events that were scheduled for March 23, the country’s Republic Day. Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s office announced on Tuesday.

3. The decision has been taken in the backdrop of a crisis that has been triggered due to disruptions in oil supply because of the ongoing war between the US-Israel and Iran.

4. The United Arab Emirates has strongly denied reports suggesting the introduction of restrictions on capital movement, dismissing the claims as false and misleading amid ongoing regional tensions. The clarification comes after speculation circulated that foreign investors could face limits on withdrawing funds or leaving the country.

5. The Qatar has sent its ninth letter to the United Nations, raising concerns over what it described as Iranian aggression on its territory. In the letter, the country said that from the beginning of the attack, on February 28, until March 16, 2026, its air defence systems intercepted several hostile aerial targets. It added that civilian injuries resulted from these attacks.

6. China has formally informed Pakistan that the promised J-35 stealth fighters will not be delivered to the Pakistan Air Force before 2032, a decision reportedly influenced by growing US-Pakistan ties.
