India’s heavy-lift launch vehicle LVM-3 is set to place a major US commercial satellite into orbit on December 24, marking another milestone in the country’s expanding role in global space commerce. The mission will be executed by NewSpace India Limited under a commercial agreement.

4. India’s net direct tax collections rose by 8% to ₹17.05 lakh crore during FY26 up to 17 December 2025, driven by higher corporate tax receipts and lower refunds. The trend reflects steady economic activity, tax reforms, and improved compliance in the Indian economy.

5. Brazil formally handed over the BRICS presidency to India during the 4th Sherpas Meeting in December 2025. India will lead BRICS in 2026 with a focus on resilience, innovation, cooperation, and sustainability, continuing Global South priorities.

6. India and Saudi Arabia have signed a bilateral visa waiver agreement to exempt diplomatic and official passport holders from short-stay visas, strengthening cooperation under the India–Saudi Arabia Strategic Partnership Council.

1. Russian President Vladimir Putin has criticised the European Union’s attempts to seize Russian assets, calling the move a robbery. He added that many countries, including Russia, keep gold and foreign currency reserves in Europe, and such actions could have wider consequences.

2. Dhaka and several other parts of Bangladesh witnessed widespread protests following the death of Sharif Osman Hadi who succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment in Singapore last night. Jahangirnagar University and Mymensingh also saw highway blockades, while traffic in central Dhaka remained paralysed for hours.

Osman Hadi, a 32-year-old radical activist who had emerged as a polarizing figure in the country’s post-uprising transition. Hadi, who died on Thursday while undergoing neurosurgery in Singapore, was the spokesperson for Inqilab Mancha, a hardline youth platform known for its aggressive anti-India rhetoric and demands for a total ban on the Awami League.

3. Purported Video of Muslim Mob Lynching & Hanging Hindu Youth In Bangladesh Shocks Internet.

According to the reports, the lynching took place in the Dubalia Para area of Bhaluka Upazila, within the Mymensingh district. The victim, identified as Dipu Chandra Das, a young Hindu man who worked in a garment factory and lived as a tenant in the area, was accused by a group of locals of making derogatory remarks about Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

4. Three people were killed and nine others were injured following a smoke bomb attack and a knife attack in Taipei on Friday, reported the Associated Press, citing officials. The smoke attack took place at the busy Taipei Main subway station.

5. Four militants were killed when they attempted to attack a security forces camp in Pakistan’s North Waziristan on 19 December 2025. The assault was successfully repelled by security personnel, though four members of the forces were injured during the exchange of fire.
