1. Himachal Pradesh government and a Dubai-based firm on Saturday signed a Memorandum of Understanding for overseas placements of the youths of the state in the presence of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.

2. The Meghalaya Government handed over the body of Awami League leader Ishaque Ali Khan Panna to Bangladeshi authorities on Saturday (August 31, 2024).

Panna was found dead at an inclined betel nut plantation in the Dona Bhoi area of the State’s East Jaintia Hills district on August 26. The spot is about 1.5 km from the India-Bangladesh border.

3. The search for a 48-year-old Indian woman who fell into a sinkhole in Malaysia nine days ago abruptly ended on Saturday after local authorities deemed the search conditions to be “extremely challenging”.

Vijaya Lakshmi Gali from Andhra Pradesh, visiting Malaysia on holiday, fell into a 26-feet-deep sinkhole in Kuala Lumpur on August 23 and has remained missing since.

4. First international flight to take off from Port Blair’s Veer Savarkar International Airport on November 16. The dates from Port Blair’s Veer Savarkar International Airport to Kuala Lumpur have been announced.

The airport was inaugurated by PM Modi on 21 June 2023. The aviation infrastructure at INS Utkrosh in Port Blair has undergone significant advancements, with upgrades that allow the airport to handle both day and night operations.

5. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Sunday extended greetings to Bakhtiyor Saidov, the Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan, on the country’s independence day.

6. Domestic carrier IndiGo on Sunday started its daily flight services to Jaffna in Sri Lanka from Chennai.

1. UN agencies in Gaza Strip launch ambitious campaign to vaccinate more than six lakh children against polio amidst pause in fighting between Israel and Hamas.

2. In 🇧🇩Bangladesh, the High Court rejected the writ petition that sought ban on Awami League and cancellation of its registration for its alleged involvement in the killing of students and general people during the student-led mass upsurge.

3. 🇷🇺Russia has said, it intercepted and destroyed 158 🇺🇦Ukrainian drones on Saturday night, including two over the city of Moscow and nine over the surrounding Moscow region. It was the one of the biggest Ukrainian drone attacks. According to the Russian Defence Ministry, 46 were over the Kursk region.

4. At least 49 teachers belonging to minority communities were forced to resign in Bangladesh after the fall of the Sheikh Hasina-led government on August 5, according to a minority organisation in the violence-hit nation. The Bangladesh Chhatra Oikya Parishad, the student wing of Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Oikya Parishad, said.

5. Baloch rights activist Mahrang Baloch on Sunday, urged human rights organisations to take notice of the enforced disappearance of Baloch poet, Nadeem Bewas.She claimed that Bewas was forcibly disappeared from Nasirabad, Balochistan, on 26 August.

6. Doctors in Bangladesh on Sunday announced a nationwide strike at public and private hospitals to protest the assault on medical professionals for their alleged negligence resulting in the death of a student at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Saturday night.
