1. High Commission of India launched a three-week long celebration of International Day of Yoga 2024 with a curtain raiser on Saturday morning at the Indira Gandhi Cultural Center (IGCC)in Dhaka.This year, the main events for the International Day of Yoga in Bangladesh will be held at Suhrawardi International Indoor Stadium, Mirpur, Dhaka on 21st June.
2. Pakistan government has admitted before Islamabad High Court that Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) is a foreign territory. Pakistan Additional Attorney General told the court that Kashmiri poet and journalist Ahmed Farhad Shah is under police custody in PoK and he cannot be produced before the Islamabad High Court as PoK is a foreign land which does not come under Pakistan’s jurisdiction.
Islamabad High Court asked if PoK is a foreign territory and not an integral part of Pakistan, then how did the Pakistani military and Pakistani Rangers enter the land. During the hearings, high Court judge Mohsin Akhter Kayani criticised Pakistan’s intelligence agencies for continuing the practice of forced abductions of people.
3. India wishes Samoa the 62nd anniversary of its Independence Day on 01 June.
4. Indian-origin astronaut Sunita Williams is all set for the third time to launch into space from the Kennedy Space Centre in Florida on 01 June after a failed attempt on 07 May. The Boeing Starliner will be launching Williams on their first crewed spacecraft to the orbiting International Space Station (ISS).
5. Queen’s University Belfast has launched India Academic Excellence Award 2024 scholarship for students from India who will be commencing their full-time undergraduate studies at Queen’s University Belfast in September 2024. Students can apply for this by 7 June.

1. At least 20 people were killed after a boat capsized in a river in eastern Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province. The cause of the tragedy is being investigated.
2. US President Joe Biden has urged Hamas to accept a new Israeli proposal to end the conflict in Gaza. The three-part proposal would begin with a six-week ceasefire in which the Israeli Defense Forces would withdraw from populated areas of Gaza.
3. Bangladesh Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said no more Rohingya or Myanmar nationals will be allowed to enter Bangladesh. He said this to journalists while visiting Ukhia Rohingya Camp in Cox’s Bazar district on Friday morning.
4. Germany has announced that Ukrainian forces can use German-sent weapons against military targets inside Russia, following a similar decision from the United States.
5. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Friday the Gaza war would not end until the “elimination” of Hamas’s capacity to govern and make war, after US President Joe Biden said Israel had offered a new peace roadmap.
