1. External Affairs Minister, Dr S Jaishankar is on an official visit to Kuwait. He met with the top leadership of the country .

2. Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim will be on a three day visit to India from today.

3. Foreign Minister of Nepal, Dr Arzu Rana Deuba is on a five-day visit to India. During the visit, She will hold talks with External Affairs Minister Dr Jaishankar on bilateral issues.

3. China was not invited to the Voice of Global South Summit in which 123 countries took part with several leaders raising climate change concerns, challenges of new technologies and talking of the need for reforms in the United Nations.

4. Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser of the Bangladesh government, on Saturday took part in the third Voice of Global South Summit and spoke about geopolitical challenges, climate change and the situation in Bangladesh.

1. In Thailand, King Maha Vajiralongkorn has appointed Paetongtarn Shinawatra as the new Prime Minister. Thirty-seven year old Paetongtarn becomes the country’s youngest and second female Prime Minister after receiving the royal endorsement from the Thai King.

2. US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken visited Tel Aviv in Israel as part of Washington’s diplomatic push to reach a ceasefire in Gaza. This is his ninth trip to West Asia since October last year when Hamas terrorists attacked southern Israel.

3. In Japan authorities have issued strict heatstroke warnings, urging residents to take precautions, as the country recorded extreme temperatures exceeding 35 degrees Celsius. Cities such as Kumamoto and Nagoya also experienced extreme heat, with temperatures reaching 36.4 degrees Celsius.

4. The Bangladeshi government has decided to screen passengers at Dhaka Airport arriving from mpox-hit nations, with increasing cases elsewhere in the world.

5. A 7.0 magnitude strong earthquake has hit the eastern coast of Russia, the US Geological Survey (USGS) reported. The quake struck early morning yesterday, with its epicenter over 88 kms from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, a city with a population of around 1.81 lakh.

6. Three people were killed and three others remained missing following a coal mine accident in Weixin County in southwest China’s Yunnan Province.
