1. Despite an offer from former U.S. President Donald Trump to consider selling F-35 stealth fighter jets to India, India remains committed to developing its own indigenous Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA).During a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Donald Trump indicated the U.S. would consider easing restrictions on exporting advanced defence technologies, including the F-35 fighter.
India has not initiated a formal process to acquire the F-35. India is still pursuing its own indigenous AMCA project, with the first flight scheduled for 2027-28.
2. On 15 February 2025, a second US military aircraft carrying 116 illegal Indian immigrants deported from the United States landed at Amritsar’s Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport. This flight followed a previous one on February 5 that brought back 104 deportees.The recent arrival has sparked significant political controversy in Punjab.
3. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met with Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar on Saturday, February 15, 2025, during the Munich Security Conference (MSC) in Germany. This meeting was part of a series of engagements that Jaishankar had with various international leaders at the conference.Jaishankar and Sa’ar exchanged views on the current situation in West Asia.
4. The Brazilian government has announced that the next BRICS summit, featuring Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, and other member countries, will be held in Rio de Janeiro on July 6-7.
5. External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar delivered the keynote address at the 8th Indian Ocean Conference in Muscat, Oman. He highlighted maritime partnerships and talked about how Indian Ocean Conference bringing many partners together.

1. The foreign ministers of the Group of Seven (G7) countries met in Munich, Germany on Saturday to help bring lasting peace to Ukraine. The G7 Ministers– consisting Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the United States, plus the European Union — promised to work together for the peace. This was the first G7 foreign ministers’ meeting since US President Donald Trump took office.
2. At least 48 people were killed and many others were injured in the collapse of an illegally operated gold mine in western Mali.
3. The three-day 7th edition of Nepal Agritech International Expo 2025 which started on 14th February, ends on Sunday. This is organised at Bhrikuti Mandap in Kathmandu. The expo aimed to create a platform to showcase and introduce the best and latest Agri inputs, products, services and technologies that would drive the agriculture of the future.
4. US Defence Secretary Marco Rubio will meet Russian officials in Saudi Arabia for talks on ending the war in Ukraine.
The US-Russia talks follow a recent call between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, not invited to the talks, insists Ukraine will reject any peace deal made without its involvement.
