1. India has allowed export of ten thousand tonnes of onion to Sri Lanka. It has also allowed additional quota of ten thousand tonnes of Onion to United Arab Emirates. The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has issued a notification in this regard.
2. 16th Meeting of India-France Joint Working Group on Counter Terrorism was held in New Delhi on Monday (15th April 2024). During the meeting, the two sides assessed counter terrorism challenges, including the use of new and emerging technologies by terrorists, misuse of internet for terrorist purposes, radicalisation and terror financing.
3. India’s Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has imposed restrictions on the export of essential commodities to the Maldives. This action entails that essential items categorized as prohibited or restricted can only be exported through four specific ports in India.
The designated ports are Mundra Sea Port in Gujarat, Tuticorin Sea Port in Tamil Nadu, Nhava Sheva Sea Port (JNPT) in Maharashtra, and ICD Tughlakabad in New Delhi.
4. Pakistan sustained its nuclear modernisation efforts last year despite its economic turmoil as its contentious relationship with India continues to drive its defence policy, the top US intelligence official has told.

Ambassadors and diplomats from various countries boarded the Vande Bharat Train from Kashi to New Delhi on Monday to experience India’s rapid infrastructural development and progress under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.The trip was organised by the Indian Minorities Foundation (IMF).

Comet Pons-Brooks, with a 71-year orbit around the Sun, presents a rare viewing opportunity. However, as it nears the Sun, its visibility will diminish due to solar glare.
6. Just two days after a mass stabbing in a crowded shopping mall rocked the Australian metropolis, police reported that a bishop and a priest were stabbed in an alleged “terrorist act” in a Sydney cathedral, sparking a riot on Monday.
