1. Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi concluded his visit to India yesterday. Mr Muttaqi returned to Kabul after holding a series of diplomatic engagements during his six day visit, including talks with External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar in Delhi.
2. India and Kyrgyz Republic have agreed to enhance existing collaboration on countering terrorism, radicalisation, extremism and drug trafficking. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval met Secretary of the Security Council of the Kyrgyz Republic Lieutenant General Baktybek Bekbolotov in Bishkek.
3. The Indo-Sri Lanka Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted “Bridging Borders II” at BMICH, focusing on enabling Sri Lanka’s market bond issuance in Indian currency. Sri Lanka’s Minister of Labour and Deputy Minister of Economic Development Dr. Anil Jayantha Fernando, emphasised on importance of investment for economic growth.
4. U.S. President Donald Trump said that Indian PM Modi told him that India will stop buying oil from Russia, a move Mr. Trump described as a “big step” in efforts to isolate Moscow economically.
5. Vice President and Minister of Development, Industry, Trade and Services of Brazil, Geraldo Alckmin reached New Delhi on a three day visit.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has said that India and Brazil enjoy strategic partnership built upon mutual respect and shared values. Holding a meeting with Vice President of Brazil Geraldo Alckmin and Defence Minister of Brazil José Múcio Monteiro Filho in New Delhi.
6. India has gifted critical Prussian Blue Capsules to Indonesia to mitigate the effects of Cesium-137 contamination. On the request of Ministry of Health of Indonesia, Embassy of India in Jakarta quickly mobilized urgently required capsules of Prussian Blue.
7. Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Dr. Harini Aamarasuriya will be on a three-day visit to India from16 Oct.
8. The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has initiated work to extend the range of the ASTRA MK-2 air-to-air missile to over 200 kilometres, marking a major technological upgrade in India’s Beyond Visual Range (BVR) missile arsenal.

1. Madagascar’s military leader Michael Randrianirina announced he will soon be sworn in as president after leading a coup that ousted President Andry Rajoelina.
2. A strike by US forces on a boat near Venezuela killed six suspected drug traffickers. This operation marks the latest in a series of military actions as the U.S. increases its presence in the southern Caribbean. US President Donald Trump described the target as a designated terrorist group involved in narcotics trafficking but did not specify which organization.
3. In Pakistan, the Zehri Tehsil of Khuzdar district in Balochistan province has been under military lockdown with a curfew in place for several days. According to reports, six civilians, including women and children, were killed in a drone strike by Pakistani forces, leaving three injured. Earlier, drone and helicopter shelling in Moola Pass, Bel Chari killed five people and several others injured.
4. Afghanistan Agrees For Ceasefire After Pakistan’s Request. Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid said that the Taliban has instructed all its forces to observe the ceasefire, as long as no violation or aggression takes place.
The recent clashes along the Durand Line between Afghan Taliban and Pakistani troops have led to significant casualties. The Taliban announced that 58 Pakistani soldiers were killed during fierce fighting in the border region.
5. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has once again revised Bangladesh’s GDP growth forecast downward for the fiscal year 2026, projecting it at 4.9 per cent, down from 5.4 per cent in July and 6.5 per cent in April.
6. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has played a vital role in the exchanges of hostages in Gaza for Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails. Since the Gaza conflict began over two years ago, the ICRC has facilitated the safe transport of hundreds of detainees during negotiated truces.

In 2025, he received the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his groundbreaking research that transformed understanding of immune tolerance and autoimmune diseases.
