1. The joint statement of Group of Seven (G7) nations on the final day of their annual summit in Italy has pledged support to specific infrastructure projects like the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) in their statement. The G7 Summit leaders reaffirmed their dedication to a free and open Indo-Pacific governed by international law.

2. Indian Railways has entered its name into Limca Book of Records for most people at a public service event at multiple venues. Ministry of Railways had organized an event on 26 February this year which was attended by over 40.19 lakh people at over 2,000 venues.

3. PM Modi expressed delight over the Smritivan Earthquake Memorial Museum in Bhuj, Gujarat making it to World Selection for the UNESCO Prix Versailles Museums 2024. In a social media post, Mr. Modi said that Smritivan in Kutch is a tribute to the lives lost in the tragic Earthquake of 2001. He said that it is a reminder of human resilience and courage as well.

4. A team from the Indian Embassy has visited all five hospitals where 25 Indians injured in the recent fire incident in the city of Mangaf in southern Kuwait were admitted and enquired about their medical condition.At least 45 Indians were killed in the fire incident at a labour accommodation in Kuwait’s Mangaf on 12 June.

5. Australian government has implemented stricter regulations to curb visa hopping among international students, with changes set to take effect from July 1. Under the new rules, certain temporary visa holders, including individuals on Temporary Graduate, Visitor and Maritime Crew visas, will no longer be eligible to apply for a Student visa while residing in Australia.

1. Sri Lanka’s GDP has been reported to have grown by 5.3% in the first quarter of 2024. Sri Lanka’s Department of Census and Statistics has released the estimated Gross Domestic Product figures at current prices.

2. The annual Hajj pilgrimage reached its zenith yesterday with the Day of Arafat, when millions of Muslims from across the globe gathered at the plains of Mount Arafat on the outskirts of Makkah.

3. Huge tailbacks are reported from highways leading out of Dhaka due to the rush of people leaving the capital city to travel to their home towns and villages on the occasion of the Eid-ul-Adha festival. Bangladesh will celebrate Eid-ul-Adha, the second biggest religious festival of the Muslims, on 17 June.

4. Cyril Ramaphosa is re-elected as South Africa’s president following a landmark coalition deal between his African National Congress (ANC) and opposition parties.

5. A two-day ‘Nepal International Tourism Expo (NITE)’ kick starts in Kathmandu valley on Friday organised to promote Nepal’s tourism in the international market.

6. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Russia will only put an end to its war in Ukraine if Kyiv surrenders entire territory of four regions claimed by Moscow and abandons its bid to join North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO).
