1. Indian government officials will be allowed to meet the 17 Indian crew members onboard an Israel-linked cargo ship seized by Iran, foreign ministry of Iran said on Monday.
2. Amid rising tensions between Israel and Iran, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar talked with his Israeli counterpart, Israel Katz, on Sunday, shared India’s concern at the larger regional situation and also agreed to stay in touch.
3. Indian negotiation team is in United Kingdom for advanced stage of negotiations for the India-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA). According to the government sources, both countries have made significant progress following the completion of the 14th round of negotiations in January 2024.
4. The 16th Meeting of India-France Joint Working Group on Counter Terrorism was held in New Delhi on Monday as the two sides focussed on state-sponsored cross-border terror including in South Asia.
5. DRDO initiates project to establish a test centre in Junput village, West Bengal, for weapon systems. The site, similar to Odisha’s Chandipur, aims to provide an additional operational area due to saturation at Chandipur’s Integrated Test Range. The project, covering 8.73 acres near Digha, meets safety norms and has approvals from the central and state governments. DRDO emphasizes safety and minimal impact on local communities during tests.
6. Hundreds of members of the Indian diaspora and volunteers of the Overseas Friends of the BJP (OFBJP)-USA orchestrated a vibrant “Modi Ka Parivar” march across the United States, including at Times Square, Los Angeles, Detroit and Chicago on Sunday.

1. Iran carried out its first direct attack on Israel on Saturday in response to a suspected Israeli strike on its consulate in Damascus on April 1 that killed seven Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guards including a senior general. On the night of April 13 to 14, 2024, Iran launched a combined attack involving at least 300 missiles and drones against Israel.
2. Amid rising tensions between Israel and Iran, US military said on Monday that they have destroyed more than 80 drones and at least six ballistic missiles aimed at Israel from Iran and Yemen.
3. United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres on Sunday called for an immediate de-escalation in the ‘Middle East’, saying that the region was on the ‘brink’.The call came as tensions worsened in the region after Iran launched a barrage of missiles towards Israel in response to an attack on its consulate in Syria.
4. The War Cabinet meeting convened by Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has started at the Kirya in Tel Aviv. Israel Defence Minister Yoav Gallant and other senior officials are in the meeting.
5. AMID CRIPPLING ECONOMY, PAKISTAN DELEGATION REACHES USA TO NEGOTIATE WITH IMF FOR FRESH LOAN: A delegation from Pakistan, headed by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, has arrived in Washington, DC, to take part in the World Bank and International Monetary Fund’s spring meetings.
6. British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said on Monday he would soon speak with his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu on how to prevent escalation in the region after Iran’s drone and missile attack.
7. Greece, a new report has stated that the population decline in the country has reached alarming levels, and it could become the world’s first country to suffer “population collapse”.
Greece’s birth rate fell by 30 per cent from 2011 to 2021 to under 84,000 per year, slipping below the death rate, according to the country’s national Hellenic Statistical Service, also known as ELSTAT.
