1. Recent reforms by Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) have introduced stricter rules for Overseas Citizens of India (OCI). These changes aim to regulate OCI registration and cancellation more firmly. The updated guidelines focus on criminal convictions and other grounds that can lead to cancellation of OCI status. The OCI scheme began in 2005. It grants foreign nationals of Indian origin lifelong visa-free travel to India.
2. India hit out at Pakistan for reckless war-mongering and hateful comments from its leadership, saying that any misadventure will have painful consequences as was demonstrated recently.
3. Fresh apricots from India’s Kargil district in Ladakh have been introduced to Saudi Arabian consumers for the first time, marking a significant milestone in India-Saudi agricultural trade relations. The launch took place at Lulu Hypermarket in Riyadh during India’s 79th Independence Day celebrations.
Indian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan officially unveiled the premium fruit products as part of the government’s One District One Product initiative.

1. Brazil has launched a slew of measures to support exporters hit by a 50 per cent tariff imposed by the US government. The initiative, called Sovereign Brazil, provides around 5.562 billion US dollars in affordable loans, tax breaks and other measures, prioritising small businesses and those dealing in perishable foods.
2. European leaders have urged US President Donald Trump not to strike a unilateral Ukraine peace deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin during their one-on-one meeting on Friday in Alaska.
3. Embassy of India in Saudi Arabia organised a Shramdaan activity under the Har Ghar Swachhata campaign. Ambassador Dr Suhel Ajaz Khan administered the Swachhta Pledge, after which staff and community members joined in cleaning and beautifying the Embassy premises.
4. Iraq and Syria have agreed to study the potential reactivation of the Banias pipeline to transport Iraqi oil through Syrian territory.
5. Pakistan has announced the creation of a new force — the Army Rocket Force Command — equipped with modern technology and intended to serve as a ‘milestone’ in strengthening its combat capabilities.
