1. India has welcomed the return of all living hostages to Israel by Palestinian armed group Hamas under the US-brokered ceasefire deal, after over two years of captivity in Gaza.

2. President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa arrived in New Delhi yesterday on a four-day visit to India.

3. External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar called on President of Mongolia in New Delhi yesterday.

4. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada Anita Anand called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal met Foreign Minister of Canada Anita Anand in New Delhi.

5. Foreign Minister of Afghanistan Amir Khan Muttaqi said that India should engage with the US for lifting sanctions on the Chabahar port.

Chabahar Port is a seaport located in Chabahar in southeastern Iran, on the Gulf of Oman. It serves as Iran’s only oceanic port, and consists of two separate ports named Shahid Kalantari and Shahid Beheshti, each of which has five berths. It is only about 170 kilometres west of the Pakistani port of Gwadar.

6. A medical graduate from Tamil Nadu has secured the second prize in the BRICS Young Innovator Prize held in Brazil last month. Sakthi Jaya Sundar Rajasekar was part of an Indian delegation of 11 young scientists and innovators at the 10th BRICS Young Scientist Forum and the 8th BRICS Young Innovator Prize event.

7. India’s parliamentary diplomacy received a boost during the 68th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference held in Bridgetown, Barbados in 2025. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla led the Indian Parliamentary Delegation, engaging with counterparts from Barbados, Australia, Jamaica, and Zambia.

1. The Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences for 2025 has been awarded to Joel Mokyr, Philippe Aghion, and Peter Howitt for their groundbreaking work on explaining innovation-driven economic growth.

2. Norway’s foreign ministry has said that Venezuela has closed its embassy in Oslo without giving a reason, days after opposition leader María Corina Machado was awarded the Nobel peace prize.

3. Pakistan has been once again gripped by widespread unrest after Punjab Police launched a massive crackdown on supporters of Islamist group Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) in Lahore and Muridke during an anti-Israel march.

4. The IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas (WCPA) honored 13 forest rangers and teams from 13 countries with the 2025 International Ranger Awards for their bravery and dedication in protecting wildlife and forests.
