INDIA REJECTS REFERENCES TO JAMMU AND KASHMIR IN CHINA PAKISTAN JOINT STATEMENT

1. INDIA REJECTS REFERENCES TO JAMMU AND KASHMIR IN CHINA-PAKISTAN JOINT STATEMENT : In response to the recent joint statement between China and Pakistan, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has issued a firm rejection of unwarranted references to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The MEA’s statement firmly states that no other country possesses the authority to comment on the status of Jammu and Kashmir.

2. PM Modi on Thursday (13 June) embarked on a trip to Italy to take part in G7 Outreach Summit, marking his first trip abroad after assuming office for the third consecutive term.

3. China is deeply concerned over Bangladesh’s proposed purchase of defence-related items from India under the US$ 500 million Line of Credit.

4. Kuwaiti authorities are conducting DNA tests on the bodies of over 40 Indians killed in the devastating fire in Mangaf area and an IAF aircraft is on standby to bring back the mortal remains. Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh reached Kuwait to oversee assistance to Indians injured in the fire and to ensure early repatriation of mortal remains.

5. The US Mission to India has received skyrocketing demand for student visas, as the Indian consular team interviewed 3,900 student visa applicants during its 8th annual Student Visa Day on Thursday.

6. India sent around 19 tons of relief material for the people of Papua New Guinea in the aftermath of devastating landslides that struck the island nation last month inflicting huge casualties and heavy damage to the infrastructure.

7. India on Wednesday said it has been pressing Russia to ensure the safety and repatriation of its nationals employed by the Russian Army.

8. India on Wednesday said its main issue with Canada continues to be the political space that Ottawa provides to anti-India elements which advocate extremism and violence.

Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra said India has repeatedly conveyed its “deep concerns” to Canada and New Delhi expects Ottawa to take strong action against those elements.

1. CANADA BACKS TIBETAN SELF-DETERMINATION MOTION, STUNS CHINA : The recent motion passed by the Canadian House of Commons acknowledging Tibetan self-determination has left China surprised. The motion, proposed by Alexis Brunelle-Duceppe, a Member of Parliament representing the Bloc Quebecois, gained unanimous support from attending MPs. The Canada Tibet Committee (CTC) declared on social media platform X.

2. The European Commission is planning to impose increased duties of up to 38 per cent on imported Chinese electric vehicles from July, escalating a trade dispute that Brussels sees as part of an effort to protect EU-bloc manufacturers.

3. The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) said that its troops are continuing to operate against terrorist infrastructure and terror operatives in the Gaza Strip.

4. The Balochistan community called for the release of missing individuals ahead of Eid-ul-Adha.

5. Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that his country would pull out of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).

Armenia’s ties with Russia have become strained since Moscow refused to intervene in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Russia had acted as guarantor of a peace deal that ended a 44-day war with Azerbaijan over the disputed territory three years ago.

6. Kathmandu city in Nepal is set to host an international tourism fair aimed at promoting global tourism, sustainable development, and cultural exchange. The event beginning from 14 June will feature tourism entrepreneurs from 16 countries.

The fair will showcase over 150 stalls from various countries, fostering international cooperation and sustainable tourism initiatives.

7. Israeli military has confirmed that it killed a senior Hezbollah commander in southern Lebanon in an airstrike, two days ago.
