1. The Supreme Court is organising a two-day conference on Technology and Dialogue between the Supreme Courts of India and Singapore on April 13 and 14, 2024.Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud and Chief Justice of Singapore Justice Sundaresh Menon alongside judges, jurists, and experts will engage in panel discussions covering a wide array of topics.
2. Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra visited Washington, DC, United States, from April 10-12. During his visit, Foreign Secretary Kwatra undertook a detailed review of the progress made towards further consolidating the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership, informed the Embassy of India in the US.
3. India has welcomed the Taliban regime’s decision to restore private land rights to Afghan Hindus and Sikh minorities as a positive development. The Taliban administration has set up a commission to ensure the return of property rights to the Hindu and Sikh communities, which were seized by warlords during the previous dispensation in Kabul.
4. Blue Origin, the space company founded by Jeff Bezos, has announced that Indian national Gopichand Thotakura will be part of a six-member crew on the next New Shepard mission. If successful, Thotakura will become the second Indian citizen in space after wing commander Rakesh Sharma in 1984, and the first Indian civilian astronaut.
5. India and the US have recently agreed to reactivate the Indian Ocean Observing System (IndOOS), a network of 36 moored buoys in the high seas aimed at collecting ocean and atmospheric data for weather forecasts.
6. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy seized the Israel-linked MSC ARIES container ship near the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday.
7. India stepped up talks with Iranian authorities to ensure the security and swift release of 17 Indians aboard a cargo ship, “MSC Aries,” that was captured by Iran on Saturday. Though an official confirmation is awaited, media outlets have reported that 17 Indian nationals were among the 25 crew members aboard a vessel seized by Iran off the UAE coast amidst escalating tensions in Middle East.
8. The vessel, reportedly Israeli-owned, was seized in the Gulf of Oman by Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards, escalating tensions between Iran and Israel
7. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Saturday greeted Sikhs on Baisakhi and Tamils on Puthandu, renewing his government’s commitment to building a “better, fairer, and more inclusive country for everyone”.

1. A cooperation agreement by the Philippines, the United States and Japan will change the dynamic in the South China Sea and the region, Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said, while seeking to assure China it was not a target.
2. Legislative elections were held in South Korea recently, to elect all 300 members of the National Assembly. The main opposition Democratic Party and its satellite party won a combined 175 seats.
3. Ukraine’s parliament has passed a controversial conscription law aimed at replenishing depleted forces as Russia continues its advance. The law requires men aged 18 to 60 to carry military registration documents and mandates registration for military service for men applying for state service abroad. The law also offers incentives to soldiers, such as cash bonuses, despite concerns about Ukraine’s financial ability to afford them.
4. Russia successfully tested its Angara-A5 space rocket for the first time on 11 April 2024. The test launch was conducted from the Vostochny Cosmodrome in the Far East of Russia.
