1. A week-long celebration of India 🇮🇳-🇱🇰Sri Lanka relations commenced in Colombo in the form of India Week 2026.

The event organised by Indian Alliance, Indian CEO Forum in association with High Commission of India features celebration of Indian culture through film festival, food festival, youth forum, hospitality forum, shopping festival and many other events over the entire coming week till March 18th.

2. Joint Secretary for Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas Sujata Sharma has said that India’s crude supply is secure and about 70 percent of the country’s crude import is now coming from outside the Strait of Hormuz.

3. India has welcomed the International Energy Agency (IEA) decision to release emergency oil stocks amid prevailing supply disruptions. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas said in a statement that India is an Associate Member of the International Energy Agency and an active participant in International Energy Cooperation.

4. A delegation from Germany visited NITI Aayog in New Delhi to learn about the Government’s flagship initiatives.

5. Minister of State for Women and Child Development Savitri Thakur has highlighted India’s strong commitment to women-led development, inclusive growth and global partnerships aimed at advancing gender equality. The Minister held a series of bilateral meetings with international counterparts and senior UN leadership to discuss cooperation on advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment in the 70th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women in New York.

6. India on Wednesday strongly condemned the targeting of commercial shipping after reports emerged about an attack on a Thai cargo vessel in the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.

Amid escalating tensions in West Asia, the government on Wednesday said 778 Indian seafarers were currently aboard 28 Indian-flagged vessels operating in the Persian Gulf region.

1. The International Energy Agency (IEA) has agreed to release the largest volume of emergency oil reserves in its history amid escalating tensions in the West Asia.

2. The UN Security Council has passed a draft resolution calling for Iran to immediately halt its attacks on Gulf countries, saying they breach international law and pose a serious threat to international peace and security. The resolution was passed by 13 votes and two abstentions, with no one voting against it.

3. Britain’s Parliament has approved legislation to remove the remaining hereditary peers from the House of Lords, bringing an end to a centuries-old system in which aristocrats held seats in the upper chamber by birth. The government says member in the Upper House should not be secured by ‌birth.

4. Two drones fell in the vicinity of Dubai International Airport a short while ago, leaving four people injured. Two Ghanaian nationals and one Bangladeshi national sustained minor injuries, while an Indian citizen suffered moderate injuries.

5. In Switzerland, a bus caught fire in the town of Kerzers last evening, killing six people and severely injuring three others.
