1. US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard will visit India as part of a multi-nation trip to the Indo-Pacific.

2. PM Modi held meeting with his Mauritian counterpart Navinchandra Ramgoolam in Port Louis today. The two leaders held discussions aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors.

3. PM Modi has become the first Indian to receive a highest civilian award of Mauritius, Grand Commander of the Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean.

4. PM Modi on Tuesday met President of Mauritius Dharam Gokhool and gifted him Gangajal from Maha Kumbh.

5. In a challenging project in difficult mountainous terrain, the government will construct a new 44-km road through the Gulmarg Wildlife Sanctuary in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) to provide connectivity to two remote border posts on the Line of Control (LoC) with Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK).

6. India told the UN Security Council that India discussed bilateral relations and humanitarian aid with the Taliban regime during a high-level meeting in January. While emphasizing strong people-to-people ties, India committed to ongoing support and development projects in Afghanistan, providing substantial aid in various sectors. The engagement aims to promote peace and stability, with a focus on international cooperation and addressing India’s security concerns.

7. India imposes 150% tariff on US alcohol, 100% on agri goods: White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, while lamenting the tariffs imposed by various nations on the United States, referred to the tariffs imposed by India on American alcohol and agricultural products.

8. Armenian Foreign Affairs Minister Ararat Mirzoyan expressed his gratitude to External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to him and his delegation during their official visit to India. He also expressed his interest in continuing talks on regional and international developments.

1. Pakistan, at least six military personnel were killed and over 450 passengers of the Peshawar-Quetta Jaffar Express have been taken hostage after the train came under attack from armed militants in Balochistan’s Mach area.

2. Former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte was arrested today on a warrant from the International Criminal Court, accusing him of crimes against humanity over the deadly anti-drug crackdowns he oversaw while in office.

3. In South Africa, at least 12 people were killed and 45 others injured when a bus overturned on a highway in Johannesburg.

4. High-stakes talks between Ukraine and United States officials have started at Jeddah in Saudi Arabia to find a path towards ending the Ukraine-Russia conflict.

5. Ukraine Launches Major Drone Assault on Moscow : Russia said it was hit by a “massive” Ukrainian drone attack overnight Tuesday, just hours before critical talks between officials from Washington and Kyiv began.

6. In Sri Lanka, the Cabinet has decided to present the Batalanda Commission report to Parliament within the week.

Former President of Srilanka, Chandrika Kumaratunga established the Presidential Commission of Inquiry widely known as the Batalanda Commission on 21 September 1995, to investigate alleged human rights violations linked to a detention centre in the late 1980s. The commission was tasked with examining the illegal detention, torture, assassination and disappearances of individuals at the Batalanda Housing Scheme.

The Batalanda Housing Scheme, a government-owned residential complex, was allegedly converted into an illegal detention and interrogation centre. The Kelaniya Police Counter-Subversive Unit (CSU) was identified as the primary force responsible for operations at Batalanda.
