1. President Smt. Droupadi Murmu arrived in Mauritius on a three day state visit on Monday.
2. China has lodged a diplomatic protest with India over Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Arunachal Pradesh, where he inaugurated the strategically important Sela tunnel. China, which claims Arunachal Pradesh as South Tibet, said India’s move would “only complicate” the boundary issue. PM Modi inaugurated the world’s longest bi-lane tunnel last week.
3. The Union Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday notified the rules to enforce the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act 2019. the Centre on Monday notified rules for granting Indian citizenships to Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists, Parsis and Christians who migrated from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan to India to skip religious persecution in their respective countries.
4. Recently, India signed a landmark free trade agreement (FTA) with the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), a bloc consisting of Switzerland, Norway, Liechtenstein, and Iceland. The Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA) is expected to boost economic growth, create job opportunities, and attract significant foreign investment to India.

1. Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari has officiated the oath-taking ceremony for a 19-member cabinet, a proposal put forth earlier on Monday by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Pakistan President Asif Zardari will announce the formal recognition of his daughter, Aseefa Bhutto, as the First Lady of the country, Notably, this will be the first time that a Pakistani President has announced his daughter for the position of First Lady, as normally the title is given to the President’s wife.

Israel was verifying if Marwan Issa, the second-highest military leader of Hamas died in an air strike in Gaza, as the talks for a ceasefire during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan continued to stumble. If Marwan Issa is confirmed dead, it would be the highest-ranking official from Hamas in over five-month war that has killed tens of thousands in Gaza.
