1. The ‘Hem Bahadur Malla Award 2080’, has been conferred on former Chief Justice Kalyan Shrestha. The award was established in honour of the founder of Salt Trading Corporation, the late Hem Bahadur Malla. Chief Justice Prakashman Singh Raut handed over the award to Shrestha at an event organised jointly by the Nepal Public Administration Association and the Corporation in Kathmandu on Thursday.

2. NPCI International Payments Limited has announced significant progress in expanding India’s Unified Payments Interface acceptance across the United Arab Emirates, unveiling strategic initiatives to deepen the digital payment platform’s integration as both countries strengthen their financial connectivity.

1. Bulgaria’s six-month-old coalition government​ led by Prime Minister Rossen Jeliazkov​ today survived its fourth no-confidence motion in the National Assembly. The motion brought forward by opposition parties over alleged failures in the environment and water sectors was supported by 83 deputies in the 240-seat legislature.

2. Torrential monsoon rains and flash floods have claimed ​around 100 lives and left 185 others injured across ​Pakistan ​in the last weeks. Pakistan​ National Disaster Management Authority said that eight people were killed and 27 others injured in rain-related accidents in the past 24 hours.

3. At least nine passengers were abducted and killed by unidentified gunmen in Pakistan’s Balochistan province. The attack occurred near Zhob, where armed assailants stopped passenger buses, checked identity cards, and selectively shot victims.

4. South Korea today called for unified efforts toward resolving North Korea’s nuclear issues. It also vowed to make progress to achieve lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula under the new government​ of President Lee Jae Myung.

5. The US State Department has launched a fresh initiative to alert Americans, with emphasis on Iranian Americans, claiming grave dangers in visiting Iran. The announcement was made by State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce.

6. UNESCO removed three important heritage sites in Madagascar, Egypt, and Libya from its World Heritage in Danger List. This happened during the 47th session of the World Heritage Committee in Paris.

7. Nepal’s Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM) reached a preliminary conclusion that a supraglacial lake outburst in China caused Tuesday’s devastating flood from the Lhende Stream in Rasuwa. According to satellite data, the flood was likely triggered by the bursting of a supraglacial lake located about 36 kilometres north of the Nepal-China border at Rasuwagadhi, at an altitude of around 5,150 meters.
