1. India is set to host the ๐๐ง๐๐ข๐ ๐๐ ๐๐ฆ๐ฉ๐๐๐ญ ๐๐ฎ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ข๐ญ, commencing from the 16th of this month in New Delhi. The five-day-long summit will bring together governments, industry leaders, researchers, start-ups, students and citizens from across the world.
2. The office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) has deleted its X post showing a map of India that aligns with the official map of India showing the entire region of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, including Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and Aksai Chin, as Indian territory. Parts of the region are illegally claimed by Pakistan and China.
3. The textile industry has hailed the Interim Trade Agreement achieved between India and the United States. Director of Alok Industries Limited and President of Reliance Industries Limited, Anil Rajvanshi, said the agreement will increase business between India and the United States. He added that the deal will benefit over 4.5 crore people in the textile sector.
4. Two senior ophthalmologists from Puducherry have been selected for the prestigious Chang-Crandall Humanitarian Award 2026, recognising their outstanding service in combating cataract blindness and visual disability. Dr Haripriya Aravind and Dr R Venkatesh of the Aravind Eye Care System will receive the honour at the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) Foundation conference in Washington DC.
5. India has reaffirmed its decision to maintain the nationwide ban on e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products, rejecting calls for relaxation that would have opened the market to devices such as IQOS. The move deals a setback to lobbying efforts by global tobacco major Philip Morris International, which had sought regulatory reconsideration of heat-not-burn products.

3. Eight Killed, Over 25 Injured in British Columbia School Shooting : In Canada, police have identified the suspect in a school shooting in British Columbia as 18-year-old Jesse Van Rootselaar. Police said Van Rootselaar had prior mental health-related calls to the home and was found dead after the attack, which killed eight people.
4. NATO has unveiled โArctic Sentryโ, a new military coordination initiative aimed at strengthening security in the High North. The move comes weeks after internal strains surfaced within the alliance over remarks by US President Donald Trump regarding Greenland.
Arctic Sentry is not a new standing force but a coordinating umbrella for existing national exercises conducted in the Arctic.
5. Bangladesh to hold crucial general elections on Thursday. The voting will begin simultaneously in 299 parliamentary constituencies across the country from 7.30 am and will continue until 4.30 pm.
