1. In Nepal, a few Gen Z representatives proposed the name of former chief justice Sushila Karki to lead the interim government. Popular leader Kathmandu Mayor Balendra Shah’s name too circulated on social media as a popular name among Gen Z but according to sources, Balan demand is to dissolve Parliament first, only after which he can consider to be part of the incoming government.
2. Nepali Army personnel have opened fire after prisoners at the Dhading District Prison tried to escape. A prisoner, aged around 75, has died after being shot at during the incident. Seven prisoners have been injured.
3. Sri Lanka’s Parliament has passed the legislation abolishing state-funded perks for former Presidents and their widows, in a decisive move aimed at curbing public expenditure. The President’s Entitlements (Repeal) Bill was endorsed by Speaker Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne after being approved with 151 votes in favour and one against.
4. Forces of Poland and NATO shot down Russian drones in alleged violation of Polish airspace during Moscow’s aerial attack on neighbouring Ukraine.

7. Poland has shut four of its airports after Ukraine warned of drones in its airspace. The country’s operational commander of the Polish Armed Forces said it activated all necessary procedures to ensure the security of its airspace.
8. Iran and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) have agreed to enhance their cooperation in a way that respects Iranian sovereignty and protects the security of the Iranian people.
9. US President Donald Trump has asked the European Union (EU) to slap more tariffs, as much as 100%, on India and China, the two biggest oil buyers of Russia.
The US had already imposed 50% tariffs, and has now asked the European Union to impose sweeping duties on India as part of their so-called collective effort to increase pressure on Moscow to end its war in Ukraine.
