1. PM Modi will pay an official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from 13 to 14 February 2024. This will be PM Modi’s 7th visit to the UAE since 2015 and the 3rd in the last 8 months.

2. The External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar, who is on a two-day visit to Perth, Australia, visited Sailani Avenue there and met the Indian community leaders and veterans.Sailani Avenue is notably named after Nain Singh Sailani, an Indian-origin soldier honoured in Australia.

3. The 7th edition of the Indian Ocean Conference is being held in Perth, Australia on 9-10 February, 2024. It is being held in association with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Government of Australia, along with S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies, Singapore and Perth-US Asia Centre in Australia.

The theme of this edition of the conference is “Towards a Stable and Sustainable Indian Ocean”.

4. India’s ambitious plans to have its own space station by 2035 and have an Indian astronaut on the moon by 2040 are progressing on track, Project Director of ISRO’s Chandrayaan-3 mission, P Veeramuthuvel, said.

5. Iran announced a visa-free policy for Indian citizens for 15 days. The policy is intended to promote tourism and cultural bonds. The Iranian government has said travellers from India will be allowed to enter only by air and stay for a maximum of 15 days.

6. The Philippines will receive the first components of the BrahMos missile system within the next two months, General Manager for Market Promotion & Export of BrahMos Aerospace Praveen Pathak told.

The Philippines earlier became the first foreign country to buy the Russian-Indian supersonic ground-based BrahMos missiles. Delivery on the first components of the order was slated for the end of December 2023.

1. INDONESIA ELECTION: General elections are scheduled to be held in Indonesia on 14 February 2024 to elect the President, Vice President, People’s Consultative Assembly which consists of the House of Representatives, the Senate, and members of local legislative bodies at the provincial and city/regency level.

2. Hungary’s President Katalin Novak announced her resignation on Saturday (Feb 10) following intense public backlash over her decision to pardon a man convicted as an accomplice in covering up a sex abuse case at a children’s home.

3. A magnitude 5.6 earthquake struck Mindanao, Philippines, on Saturday, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) said.

4. Russia-Ukraine war: The Ukrainian air force said that air defence and mobile groups of drone hunters shot down 23 out of 31 Russian-launched drones, which were targeting the Kharkiv region in the northeast of the country and also the Odesa region in the south.

5. Who will be Pakistan’s next Prime Minister?
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), which has emerged as the single largest party, is trailing with 72 seats, followed by the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) at 52 seats.

None of the three major parties of the country will win the necessary 169 seats to have a majority in parliament and, therefore, will be unable to form government on their own.

Pakistan’s caretaker prime minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar said that he anticipated a coalition government in the country as there is a high possibility of a hung Parliament. As votes are still being counted two days after the general election, Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar said that blocking communication channels and social media had no political motive as it was done because of the security situation.
