1. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh delivered a pointed response to US President Donald Trump’s recent tariff impositions on Indian imports, labelling such actions as an inability to accept India’s rapid growth as a global power.Speaking at the ground breaking ceremony for the BRAHMA Project (BEML Rail Hub for Manufacturing), a rail coach manufacturing unit of Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML).

2. India and Pakistan have both issued notifications for simultaneous naval firing exercises in the Arabian Sea on August 11 and 12, with the designated areas about 60 nautical miles apart.

3. Russian President Vladimir Putin’s 2025 visit to New Delhi is expected to focus on a major defence pact for 60 Su-57 fifth-generation fighter jets with technology transfer, source code access, and co-production at Hindustan Aeronautics’ Nashik facility.

4. India has welcomed the August 15 Trump-Putin summit in Alaska aimed at ending the Ukraine war.

5. Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif on Saturday (August 9, 2025) claimed that no aircraft of the military was hit or destroyed by Indian armed forces during the recent conflict.

His comments came hours after Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh said the Indian Air Force (IAF) shot down five Pakistani fighter jets and a large aircraft during Operation Sindoor.

1. UN Security Council holds emergency meeting to address Israel’s decision to take control of Gaza City.

2. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy received diplomatic backing from Europe and the NATO alliance on Sunday, ahead of the Alaska Summit talks between US President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, to end the war between Moscow and Kyiv.

3. British police arrested more than 400 people in central London as supporters of a recently banned pro-Palestinian group intentionally flouted the law as part of their effort to force the government to reconsider the ban on the group. The U.K. Parliament in early last month passed a law banning Palestine Action and making it a crime to publicly support the organization.
