1.India and UAE sign five agreements for cooperation in fields including nuclear energy and petroleum. Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan is on his first visit to India.

These include an MoU on the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant Operations and Maintenance between Emirates Nuclear Energy Company and Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited. An agreement for a long-term LNG supply between Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and Indian Oil Corporation Limited was also signed.

2. External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar has reiterated India’s support for ceasefire in Gaza strip as soon as possible. Speaking at the inaugural India-Gulf Cooperation Council Joint Ministerial Meeting for Strategic Dialogue held in Riyadh.

3. Nepal has become the 101st country to join the International Solar Alliance-ISA as a full member. The Instrument of Ratification was exchanged during a meeting between Nepal’s Charge d’ affairs Dr. Surendra Thapa and Joint Secretary (ED&MER) in the External Affairs Ministry, Abhishek Singh.

4. India maintained the top spot as the leading source market for Sri Lanka tourism in the first 8 months of 2024. Almost 2.6 lacs Indians travelled to the island nation while 1.36 million tourists in all arrived in the first eight months of the year.

5. India will host the 2nd Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Civil Aviation from September 11 to 12 in New Delhi.

6. Arun Goel has been appointed as India’s next Ambassador to Croatia, succeeding Raj Kumar Srivastava.

1. In Sri Lanka, the National Election Commission today held discussion with all the candidates contesting the presidential election in the island nation and their representatives.

2. At least, 11 killed, 9 missing after torrential rains hit south Morocco.

7. SpaceX is preparing to launch its first uncrewed Starship missions to Mars in the next two years, aligning with the ideal timing for space travel between Earth and Mars, known as the Earth-Mars transfer window.

8. NASA’s DART mission made history by successfully crashing a spacecraft into the asteroid moonlet Dimorphos. This marked a major step forward in protecting Earth from possible asteroid impacts by testing ways to change the direction of threatening space objects.
