1. India Namibia sign MoUs in field of Health and Medicine and to set up Entrepreneurship Development Center; Namibia agrees to join global biofuel alliance and to launch UPI system.

2. PM Modi conferred with Namibia’s highest civilian award. On the occasion, the President of Namibia, H.E. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah conferred on Prime Minister the highest civilian award of Namibia – Order of the Most Ancient Welwitschia Mirabilis. He is the first Indian leader to be given this award.

3. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set a target to scale up bilateral trade with Brazil from the existing 12.2 billion to 20 billion dollars in the next five years.

1. The United States has intensified its tariff campaign, threatening punitive duties on over a dozen countries from August 2025. This move follows a delayed deadline for trade negotiations under the so-called “reciprocal” tariff policy. The ongoing trade tensions have unsettled global markets and complicated international relations.

2. The U.S. Supreme Court has allowed Trump Administration to move forward with sweeping federal job cuts. The ruling overrode lower court orders that had paused the layoffs, which are being driven by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

3. At least nine people were killed and 19 others were missing after heavy rains on Tuesday, flooding the Lhende river and the Bhotkosi river in Nepal’s Rasuwa district. A flood swept away the Miterepul Bridge that links the Himalayan nation with China.

4. Russia launches drone & missile attacks on Ukraine. The Ukrainian Air Force claimed that 711 of the drones and at least seven of the missiles were downed.

5. French President Emmanuel Macron has called for an unconditional ceasefire in Gaza. He was addressing both houses of the British parliament. He urged the United Kingdom to work together with France on recognising a Palestinian state.

6. Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has directed the Customs authorities to urgently resolve the backlog of international e-commerce parcels, following growing delays in the clearance of shipments from platforms such as Temu and AliExpress.

7. Bangladesh now faces uncertainty as US President Donald Trump announced on Monday a new rate for Bangladeshi goods, 35 per cent – that was just a 2% reduction on his original announcement, 37%, to be effective from August 1.

8. At least 109 people were dead and over 160 are still missing after devastating flash floods affected Texas in the US, with rescue operations still going on along the Guadalupe River.
