1. On the sidelines of the 3rd BIMSTEC Agriculture Ministerial level meeting on Wednesday, India’s Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and Union Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Development of Nepal, Ram Nath Adhikari, signed an MoU on ‘Cooperation in the Field of Agriculture between India and Nepal’.

2. Sri Lanka, as the Avurudu and Tamil New Year approach on April 13 and 14, the government is gearing up for the celebrations. To accommodate increased travel during this festive period, the Department of Railways has launched 10 special train services starting 11th April.

1. China has announced an additional 84 percent tariff on all goods imported from the US. Earlier, China accused the USA of “bullying practices” after US President Donald Trump imposed 104 percent duties on Chinese goods.

2. In USA, the Pentagon announced that senior officer Vice Admiral Shoshana Chatfield, assigned to NATO, has been removed. It is said that her removal was due to a loss of confidence in her ability to lead. She is one of several top-ranking female military officials who have been removed in recent weeks.

3. At least 124 people have been killed and more than 150 injured after a roof collapsed at a nightclub in the Dominican Republic’s capital, Santo Domingo. A provincial governor and former Major League Baseball pitcher, Octavio Dotel, was among the victims.
