1. In Indonesia, Mount Ibu, located in North Maluku province, erupted today, prompting the Centre for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation to issue a flight alert.
2. A powerful 7.1-magnitude earthquake near Nepal-Tibet border: Death toll reaches 126, 188 injured. The earthquake also sent tremors across northern India, affecting areas such as Bihar, West Bengal, and Sikkim. No casualties or property damage have been reported in the country so far.
3. An earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale was felt in Dhaka and different parts of Bangladesh at 07:05 am local time yesterday.
4. South Korean Court granted an extension of a warrant to detain impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol over his short-lived imposition of martial law. The Seoul Western District Court granted the extension requested by investigators led by the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) after the initial warrant expired.
5. South Korea’s police have summoned the head of the Presidential Security Service for questioning later this week. This is the third summons over allegations of blocking investigators from detaining impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol. Chief of the Presidential Security Service, Park Chong-jun, was booked on charges of obstructing official duties after presidential security officials blocked the Corruption Investigation Officials from executing a warrant to detain Yoon.
