1. The Russian Defence Ministry said its forces have taken control of the village of Kucherivka in Ukraine’s northern Kharkiv region and Rivne in the eastern Donetsk region.
2. In Greece, at least 18 migrants attempting to cross the Mediterranean Sea in an inflatable boat died when it capsized south of the island of Crete. Two survivors were rescued. A ship and a plane from European border agency Frontex, a Greek Coast Guard helicopter and three merchant vessels are taking part in the search operation.
3. In Algeria, fourteen people were killed, and 34 were injured when a passenger bus overturned on a national highway. The vehicle flipped while travelling on the route linking Bechar and Tindouf in southern Algeria.
4. The Pakistani authorities have once again suspended mobile phone internet services in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan, causing problems for people.
5. The Trump administration has reaffirmed its long-standing position that it does not support any unilateral change to the status quo in the Taiwan Strait. In its new National Security Strategy, the Defence planning places special attention on Taiwan. The strategy says, The island provides direct access to the Second Island Chain and splits Northeast and Southeast Asia into two distinct theatres.
