Earthquake Strikes Northern Afghanistan

1. Union Minister for Labour and Mansukh Mandaviya will represent India at the Second World Summit for Social Development (WSSD-2) in Doha, Qatar, from 4–6 November 2025. The Summit aims to reaffirm global commitment to eradicating poverty, promoting decent work, and advancing social inclusion nearly three decades after the 1995 Copenhagen Summit.

2. In a major step toward globalising India’s digital payments ecosystem, “”NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL)”” has partnered with “”Razorpay Curlec”” to enable “”UPI transactions in Malaysia””. The integration allows Indian travellers to make instant, secure payments to Malaysian merchants using their preferred UPI-enabled apps.

3. Saudi Arabia has inaugurated the second edition of its “”Global Harmony initiative””, beginning with “India Week” as part of the ongoing Riyadh Season.

4. Israel’s Foreign Minister, Gideon Sa’ar will hold a meeting with External Affairs Minister (EAM) Dr. S Jaishankar in New Delhi today.

5. India has extended condolences over the loss of lives caused by a devastating earthquake in Afghanistan, where the death toll has risen to 20. More than 500 people were injured after a 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck the northern part of the country, shaking multiple regions on Sunday night.

6. Thirty-five fishermen from Tamil Nadu and Karaikal were arrested by the Navy of Sri Lanka. They were caught for trespassing into international waters while fishing.

1. The Maldives has become the first country globally to impose a generational ban on tobacco and vaping, marking a historic step towards a smoke-free future. The law, effective from November 1, 2025, prohibits anyone born after January 1, 2007—including tourists—from purchasing or using tobacco products.
