1. The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has unleashed its most extensive offensive to date against Pakistani security forces, launching 37 synchronised attacks across nine districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

2. Iran has accused the United States and Israel of launching airstrikes on its Natanz nuclear enrichment facility, a cornerstone of Tehran’s atomic program. The claim emerged on Monday, 2 March 2026, amid heightened tensions in the region.

3. Iran’s Assembly of Experts has reportedly elected Mojtaba Khamenei, son of the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as the country’s new supreme leader.

4. Scotland has become the first nation in the United Kingdom to legalise water cremation, formally known as alkaline hydrolysis. The move marks a significant reform in funeral legislation, representing the most substantial change since cremation was introduced in Scotland in 1902.

Alkaline hydrolysis involves placing the body in a sealed chamber filled with water and potassium hydroxide, an alkaline solution. The chamber is heated to around 150°C for approximately 90 minutes. The combination of heat, water and chemicals accelerates the natural decomposition process.
