#External affairs Minister: Subrahmanyam Jaishankar

1. Minister of External Affairs Dr S Jaishankar held a telephonic conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba and exchanged views on the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

2. Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri has said that 22 countries and 12 International Organisations have so far joined the Global Biofuel Alliance launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the G 20 Summit in New Delhi.

3. External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar will be on a two-day visit to Nepal.

4. Senior Indian Foreign Service officer Randhir Jaiswal today took charge as the Spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs.

5. Sri Lanka has informed India that Chinese research vessels are prohibited from operating within its exclusive economic zone and docking at its ports for a duration of one year. The decision comes in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s request to President Ranil Wickremesinghe last July, urging respect for India’s strategic and security concerns.

6. Saudi Arabia has officially become a full member of the BRICS group of emerging economies. The leaders of the five BRICS nations – Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa – approved the group’s expansion in August by adding Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates.

6. Hamas deputy leader Saleh al-Arouri has been killed in an Israeli drone strike in Beirut. Israel Defense Forces (IDF) claimed that it has neutralised the deputy leader of Hamas.
