1. A 🇷🇺Russian helicopter carrying 22 people has gone missing near the Vachkazhets volcano in the Kamchatka region, Russia. The Mi-8T helicopter, operated by Vityaz-Aero airline, lost communication shortly after takeoff.
2. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has dismissed Air Force commander Mykola Oleschuk from his post.
3. Russian shelling in the town of Chasiv Yar on Saturday killed five people, as Moscow’s troops pushed ahead in Ukraine’s eastern Donetsk region.
4. *Boeing Starliner to come back to Earth next week without NASA astronaut Sunita Williams* : NASA astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore took off in the Boeing Starliner spacecraft on June 5 with an aim to test the Starliner’s capabilities for commercial space travel.
Both the astronauts will return next year in SapceX’s Crew Dragon. This was decided by NASA because the Boeing spacecraft had faulty thrusters and reported several helium leaks, making it risky for the astronauts onboard.
5. The United Nations has allocated $100 million from the Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) to address critical humanitarian needs in 10 countries across Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and the Caribbean. Acting UN humanitarian chief Joyce Msuya emphasized the dire need for this funding, noting that a lack of resources is hindering aid agencies from providing essential life-saving assistance.
