External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar yesterday met Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani in Doha. They reviewed the bilateral relationship focusing on political, trade, investment, energy, technology, culture, and people-to-people ties.

1. In Nigeria, at least 18 people were killed and more than 40 others injured in a series of suicide bomb attacks in the northeastern state of Borno.
2. The World Bank has approved a second round of 1.5 billion dollars in financial help to India to accelerate the development of low-carbon energy. The financing is extended to promote a market for green hydrogen, electrolysers, and increased renewable energy penetration.
3. Georgia parliament backs bills to restrict LGBT rights : Georgia’s parliament gave its initial approval to a set of bills containing sweeping curbs on LGBT rights, including bans on the “propaganda” of same-sex relationships and gender reassignment surgery.
4. A district and sessions court in Islamabad declined the pleas of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, as well as his wife, Bushra Bibi, to suspend their seven-year sentences in the Iddat Case on Thursday.
Lawyers, women activists, and members of civil society all harshly condemned the Iddat conviction as a “blow to women’s right to dignity and privacy.”
