1. Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, toured the 93-year-old vessel ‘ITS Amerigo Vespucci’ on Saturday at Indira Dock of Mumbai Port Trust. During his visit, Sonowal held informal discussions and emphasized the commitment of India and Italy to further strengthen their friendship.

2. Attacks on Bangladesh Hindus: Kolkata’s JN Ray Hospital announced on Friday that it would stop treating Bangladeshi patients indefinitely. The decision comes in response to alleged anti-Hindu violence in Bangladesh and reported insults to the Indian flag by Bangladeshi nationals.

3. Israel has expressed willingness to provide technical expertise for the Musi river rejuvenation project initiated by the Telangana government, Industries and IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu said.

4. Indian student from Telangana shot dead in US: Sai Teja Nukarapu (22) from Khammam district of Telangana was shot dead by miscreants at a gas station near Chicago in the United States where he was working. Sai Teja completed BBA in India and was pursuing MBA in US.

5. India has been re-elected to the UN Peacebuilding Commission (PBC) for the 2025-2026 term. This reaffirmation of India’s role marks its commitment to global peace efforts, which was made by the Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations on social media.

1. Iceland votes for new parliament : Icelanders are electing a new parliament Saturday after disagreements over immigration, energy policy and the economy forced Prime Minister Bjarni Benediktsson to pull the plug on his coalition government and call an early election.

2. In Pakistan, 13 more people have been killed in the last two days in sectarian violence in Kurram district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, taking the death toll in the recent clashes to 124.

3. In Syria, armed opposition forces have captured Aleppo, the country’s second largest city, within days of launching a major offensive in north-western part of the country. The Islamist militant group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and its allied factions had already captured a number of towns and villages in Aleppo and Idlib provinces, pushing back President Bashar al-Assad’s forces, since Wednesday.

4. Australia has enacted a world-first legislation to ban children under 16 from social media platforms, such as TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram, as part of its effort to protect minors from online harm. The law imposes hefty fines of up to AUD 50 million for non-compliance.

5. In Nigeria, at least 27 people were killed and over 100 people went missing after an overcrowded boat transporting them to a food market capsized along the Niger River.

6. 12 people were killed in attacks by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on villages in Sudan’s Gezira State on Friday.
