Upon the meeting desk, what all
necessary things to give the slum
children of Gutusai, a small dot
on the rich map of India, we came
up with a bunch of items:
Biscuits, cakes, chocolates,
smiley balls, and incense sticks.
First three are reasonable ones
and top priority for the most NGOs
but the last two doesn’t make
sense to most of my co-workers.
But I feel, this is the least
we should give as a first
forgiveness present.
We as society have blotted their
childhood, taken away innocent
laughters.
We as developing nations have
promised and failed to keep them
when it comes to food, education and
clothes.
And I think they need the smiley balls
as much as they need grains. It is not
a luxury, we should count on.
And they need incense sticks.
They fragnance of faith and hope
living in night all time so, they can
find their way to the light.
Now, I rest my case.
