Reparation

Reparation

“We don’t have time to sit on our hands as our planet burns. For young people, climate change
is bigger than election or re-election. It’s life or death.”

~Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
(US Politician & Activist)

Reparation, a term we don’t
hear much. A term not often
valued much. A term even
lesser practiced in real life.

It means to make amends
for the wrongs one has
done by payments or by
some kind of assistance.

Read an article on the Climate
Reparation in the Indian Express
three days ago.

It talks about how
we devoured the environment
injudiciously in the 19th and 20th
century,
for our needsfor our wantsstimulated by our
unconscious greed.

It’s incredible: how we enslaved
animals, stripped water and air
of its purity, balded the soil of
forests and yet, somehow
have the nerve to walk freely
and carelessly on the Earth
without even a tinge of
regret or guilt.

We really should keep ourselves
locked at homes in Pardah system,
especially men with wits and lower
conscience.
