Quiet Longing

Quiet Longing

To dare is to lose one’s footing momentarily. To not dare is to lose oneself.
– Soren Kierkegaard

To watch a stone road
with no man’s or woman’s
footing, under the first fall
of the rising sun, is what
I want

with a cold bend of breeze,
mixed with the twitterings of
the sparrows

Alas! Even if this is the only
thing that I have been longing
for quite some time, I am
having trouble getting it.

My only challenge is to SLEEP.
The day I conquer that, I
would have conquered
every other aspect of my life.

But how does one conquer Sleep?

Others seem to enjoy sleeping and
dreaming and it comes quite naturally
to them. Then, why does it escape my
eyes and mind?

Perhaps, it is teaching me something
in its own silent way and I am learning
it at my own sweet pace.
