Crime Inspired by a Movie Plot
In a spooky case straight out of the Bollywood thriller Drishyam, a Maharashtra’s Palghar district man was allegedly killed by his wife and her paramour, who buried his body under the floorboards of their residence to conceal the offense. The attack has put the peaceful neighborhood on the edge and attracted widespread media coverage for its uncanny resemblance to a movie plot.
Missing Person Turned Murder Victim The missing person was 32-year-old
Sanjay Waghmare, who had been missing for a few days, according to reports. His wife had first denied any knowledge of his whereabouts, claiming Sanjay had left the house and never came back. But increasing suspicion from Sanjay’s family prompted them to file a missing person case, which was enough for the police to probe the issue further.
Shocking Discovery Under House Tiles
During the police investigation, contradictions in the wife’s answers and some behavior red flags provoked additional interrogation. Finally, she collapsed and admitted the crime. She and her lover had planned the murder beforehand, according to officials. They killed Sanjay, then dug a hole within the house, buried him, and covered the body with new floor tiles in an effort to destroy all traces.
Pre-Meditated Crime and Motive
The investigators suspect the motive for the killing was an illicit affair between the accused and her boyfriend. Sanjay had apparently found out about the affair and challenged the two, which might have resulted in the deadly experience. The lovers supposedly agreed that eliminating him was the only solution to their continued relationship free from interference.
Forensics and Arrests
Both the lover and wife have now been arrested by police. The remains have been recovered by forensic teams and sent for post-mortem examination. The site where the body was buried has also been cordoned off as part of the investigation into the crime. Digging and tile replacement tools have also been confiscated as evidence.
