Whatever comes off the quill,
inscribe it, for, it will not come
again. And then, you have other
things to do like clean utensils,
broom stairs, wash clothes,
cook meals, check temperatures,
keep anger and patience under
control, take the dog out, feed
pigeons, cats, and cows on time,
pray to the House Deities twice,
water the plants, arrange the
messy room, dust the dining table
and gaze at moonlit night
wishing for
a shooting star.
Dawn turns into dusk and
dusk breaks into the night. And
I lose no time in playing the game
where I lose myself
in the halls of home and
forget childhood.
It’s a vicious cycle of all married
women rearing children and
embracing household duties.
