Hidden Secret of The Habit Building By Prerna Gupta

Health Tips

People often question and complain that they have sincerely tried to build a habit and put their heart and soul into it, and were even successful in reaching their desired level, but then fell back to the old trap, or a little better than that.

For better understanding, let’s assume an adult named Priya used to wake up at 11:30 am, struggling and grudgingly, and even after that, struggled to get her work done and felt sleepy throughout the day. Then, one day, she decided to change her life and not be enslaved to her bad habits.

Hence, with the help of her family and friends, she made a plan to get back up on her feet, step by step and bit by bit. She started small, from working 4-5 hours a day to working 7-8 hours a day, and no matter what time she slept, she woke up at 9 am and started working sharp by 9:30 or 10:30 am.

Then, she analyzed why she struggled at night with sleep. She realized it was an addiction to the phone that kept her up, so she put her phone away after evening and started a digital detox, keeping her working hours 7-8 hours consistently. It was hard initially, but eventually, she mastered it too.

Then, she started enjoying herself through meditation, exercises, and gardening in her free time. After 3-4 months, she conquered her addiction over the phone and found a way to sleep within a few minutes.

Next month, she shifted her sleep cycle to 6:30 a.m., and when she easily attained it, she moved it up to 4:20 a.m. without a nap during the day and worked 10-12 hours a day. Now, that was a great length she transformed. But after living life this well for two months, a big emotional challenge came into her life, and she was back to square 1 at 9:30 am. But she did not lose hope.

She started working on herself again and climbed the ladder daily, winning small battles, but she fell halfway down and started questioning the same things, i.e., I did everything right in the right way, and yet again, I am struggling today with the same habit-building that I was a few months back.

Now, this is an inspirational story, but incomplete, similar to yours. You may build your habit from scratch, but life will always throw unexpected things at you, and you will slip a bit, but that doesn’t mean any of your effort is lost, and here is a surprise gift for you:

If you stick to a single habit for 91 days straight, then nothing in the world can take away that habit or that version of you from you. You decided to wake up at 4 am and go to the gym. Then do it straight for 91 days without a break. You stick, you do it. Your hand broke, you do it. Irrespective of what the hell happens in your life, you stick to one goal of 91 days, and whatever you are working on will inevitably be successful.
