Nikki, a young mother, was allegedly doused with kerosene and set on fire by her husband and in-laws in her house in Sirsa village. Appallingly, the gruesome act was done in front of her small son, traumatizing the child, who was also an important eyewitness to the crime.
Dowry Pressure Building for Years
Family members of the victim identified that Nikki had been subjected to relentless harassment by dowry demands soon after her marriage in 2016. Even after her family presented ornaments at the wedding, her husband Vipin and his relatives reportedly continued to demand more. The most recent demand of ₹36 lakh acted as the final straw, which in the complaint resulted in this heinous crime.
Eyewitness Account From the Child
The most heart-wrenching detail comes from Nikki’s own son, who reportedly told neighbors and police that his father and grandparents beat his mother, poured liquid on her, and then lit her on fire with a lighter. Videos captured by bystanders show the injured woman stumbling down the stairs in flames, while her son cried helplessly nearby.
Police Action and Arrests
Following the complaint lodged by Nikki’s sister, police arrested Vipin, her husband, as the prime accused. His parents and brother, also named in the case, are currently absconding. Authorities have promised a swift investigation and assured that the case will be treated with the utmost seriousness given the gruesome nature of the crime.

Grieving relatives gathered outside the local police station, demanding strict punishment.
