The much awaited event on Mumbai’s art & culture calendar, The Mumbai Gallery Weekend is back from 10th to 13th February 2022 as a three day long affair that aspires to engage various audiences with a series of exhibitions highlighting the best art being created in India and beyond, showcased by the best galleries.
This year’s weekend will feature 23 galleries and design venues from across Mumbai. Ranjana Steinruecke from Team MGW tells us, “The Mumbai Gallery Weekend is an all-day event spread over four days, and so, there will be no crowding. The exhibitions are in private galleries and each is taking utmost care to provide a safe environment with social distancing, and the mandatory use of masks.”
The goal of the Mumbai Gallery Weekend was to infuse new life into Mumbai’s art scene when it launched in 2012. Over the last ten years, this art-focused weekend has established itself as one of Mumbai’s most important cultural events. MGW’s mission has grown to encompass new galleries and cultural spaces throughout time. The goal has remained the same: to bring together potential art collectors and aficionados in order to expand the reach and importance of contemporary art.
The 10th edition of Mumbai Gallery Weekend will give visitors a chance to experience a range of art-related events, all of which are open to all and free to attend. The event has grown every year to include more partners, and evolved to engage a wider audience every year.
The Mumbai Gallery Weekend (MGW), the city’s largest coordinated art festival, is a free event! Please log on to www.mumbaigalleryweekend.com closer to the date for details of shows, events and venues.
