Three national award winning actors took time to celebrate the legend Sanjeev Kumar’s death anniversary by sharing posts about the recently released book Sanjeev Kumar-The Actor We All Loved. One of India’s earliest globally acclaimed actors, Sanjeev Kumar’s biography is endorsed by none other than Indian PM Narendra Modi. ’He was a natural; one of the most powerful actors’ says Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, in the book.

Indian film fans celebrated the death anniversary of legendary actor #Sanjeev Kumar on Sunday. India’s favourite biographer Reeta Ramamurthy Gupta was a part of multiple book events in Pune to commemorate the actor’s authorised biography Sanjeev Kumar-The Actor We All Loved in Pune.

Actor Vidya Balan who wrote the afterword in the book took to instagram and said, “Sanjeev Kumar was limitless because he had no set ways. He imbued truth into the most banal of moments.”

National Award winning actor Divya Dutta shared a picture of her reading the biography, while another National Award winning actor Sonali Kulkarni joined an instagram live to talk about the art of Sanjeev Kumar. “Angoor is one of my favourites, so many scenes in the film are incredible. Only a great actor can do comedy so effortlessly,” she added during the live.

Sanjeev Kumar died early at the age of 48 and left his fans wanting for more.
Fans were relieved when Reeta Ramamurthy Gupta and Uday Jariwala, the nephew and heir to the legacy of Sanjeev Kumar, co-authored this very important biography of historical significance in the annals of Indian cinema. The book traverses his life from 1938 to 1985 and promises to be a thorough entertainer. The official launch of the biography was done on 9th July 2022 by Indian superstar Anil Kapoor, who said, “Sanjeev Kumar had the ability to elevate his performance during dubbing.”

The book takes us through Sanjeev Kumar’s journey to becoming one of the greatest actors Bollywood has seen, with personal essays by his friends and leading Bollywood names including Gulzar, Randhir Kapoor, and co-stars Sharmila Tagore, Moushmi Chatterjee, Tanuja, among others.

Commenting on her experience of narrating Sanjeev Kumar’s life story, co-author Reeta Ramamurthy Gupta comments ‘It took me four years, multiple interviews with over 25 contributors, poring over 800 magazine articles in five languages to write this book. Sanjeev Kumar was one of those rare performers who ‘became the character’, instead of playing it and his National Awards prove it.”
