Digital content creator Apoorva Mukhija, also known as Rebel Kid, has finally responded to the current controversy over her appearance on India’s Got Latent in a new YouTube video. The video, “Till I say it is”, is her first detailed reaction to the online backlash, rape threats, and abuse she faced after the show’s clips went viral, prompting intense criticism and trolling.

‘It’s not over till I say it is’ — Apoorva lashes back

In the charged video, Apoorva speaks calmly to the camera, not choosing to go after anyone in particular but instead giving a calm version of what she’s been enduring ever since the controversy began. She starts by saying, “Everyone’s been telling me it’s over. That I’ve been canceled. But I’ve decided—it’s not over till I say it is.”

The 23-year-old influencer, who was severely criticized for her comments during the reality show showcasing talents, said that a lot of the anger was caused by out-of-context clips and false information. She also shared that she has been getting scores of abusive messages, including rape threats and violent DMs, and put them on display for a few seconds in the video.

‘Was it talent or trolling?’ — Apoorva opens up

Apoorva also thought about how the show was never supposed to be taken seriously and that India’s Got Latent was a satirical idea. She did admit that the experience had affected her mental health, but also mentioned that the hate had only strengthened her resolve to continue creating content.

“I’m not here to be a role model, period. I’m here to be genuine. If you don’t like the stuff I create, don’t watch it. “But don’t dehumanize a person because she has the guts to be different,” she added.

Fans and fellow creators rally behind her

Within hours of uploading the video, Apoorva had an avalanche of support from her fanbase and other influencers. Most appreciated her for being resolute in the face of an online tempest, while others called on platforms to act more forcefully against users spreading hate and abuse.

Apoorva closed out the video with the statement, “This is just the beginning.” Through this video, she has established that her story will be heard on her own terms—and she is not going anywhere anytime soon.
