As the year draws to a close, here is a round-up of some of the most exciting restaurant launches we’ve had this year. From bold revamps to brand-new concepts, these spaces are turning heads — and taste buds — across Mumbai, Goa, and Amritsar.
MUMBAI
1. Monkey Bar, Bandra
Monkey Bar, Mumbai’s iconic gastropub by AD Singh of the Olive Group, underwent an exciting transformation, now offering a fresh and vibrant experience. Known for its playful spin on regional Indian flavors, the menu now features bold new plates like Sahuji Mutton Roll, Jackfruit Tacos, and Methi-spiced Prawns, alongside all-time classics like the OG MoBar Burger and Juicy Lucy. The cocktail program packs a punch with playful drinks like the Rasam Ki Kasam and Manga Mule. The revamped space, conceptualized by Sabina Singh, draws from an “Urban Tropical Dreamscape” with lush greenery, glowing monkey screens, and a reimagined bar that’s an Instagram favorite.
2. BLAH Brunch Cafe + Bar, Santacruz
The much-loved brunch cafe BLAH has found a second home in Santacruz, brought to life by Niketa Sharma of Keish Hospitality. Famous for its indulgent brunches and hearty dinner plates, the new space features crowd-favorites like Truffle Mushroom Toast, Gochujang Grilled Chicken, and 70% Callebaut Chocolate Mousse. The bar, led by mixologist Dimi Lezinska, serves global-inspired cocktails like Speed Dating and Sapa Love. Spanning 4,400 sq. ft., the two-storey space by Keith Menon features terrazzo floors, mosaic tiles, interactive wine wall, a 12-seater private dining immersive room and a disco-ball-lit Herbarium on the upper level — perfect for a weekend party vibe.
3. Shelter Cafe x Coffee by Javaphile, Bandra
First opened in Versova, Shelter Cafe by restaurateur Suren Joshi opened its doors in the lively neighborhood of Bandra in November. True to its ethos, Shelter champions a zero-waste philosophy, ensuring every aspect — from the locally sourced ingredients on your plate to the sustainable design of the space — reflects a commitment to mindful living. Guests can enjoy a range of fresh, flavor-packed dishes like crisp sourdough pizzas, vibrant salads, and artisan sandwiches, all prepared by Head Chef Soumojit Sinha with a focus on sustainability and seasonality. Handcrafted coffees by Javaphile and house-made pastries by Chef Ameek Kaur complete the experience. A calm, earthy vibe runs through the cafe’s design, with warm wood accents and abundant greenery, making it a cozy escape from the city buzz.
4. Mazi Coffee Bar & Kitchen, Santacruz & Bandra
Mazi offers a modern cafe experience with a minimalist setting featuring soft white tones, natural wood accents, and hanging planters. The space invites friends, family, and strangers to come together — a fitting tribute to its name, which means “together” in Greek. In 2024, Mazi debuted in Santacruz and, within three months, expanded to Bandra with a unique concept that includes a partnership with a tattoo studio.
GOA
1. ISSA, Siolim
Located on the banks of the Chapora River, brought to life by Rishi Kajaria, Ankoor Pasari, and Ashish Wadhwani, ISSA’s contemporary European menu delights with dishes like Chonak Ceviche, Chicken Shawarma Burger, and fresh seafood options like tiger prawns and lobster. The cocktail program showcases inventive tropical flavors curated by an expert bar team. Coastal charm runs through the open-air design, with breezy seating and river views that make it the ultimate spot for a sunset escape.
2. Tikitii, Morjim
Seafood-forward plates and tropical cocktails steal the spotlight at Tikitii by restaurateur Suved Lohia. From freshly caught fish to global coastal flavors, every dish celebrates the bounty of the sea. The beachfront restaurant is a visual treat, with driftwood accents, rattan furnishings, and airy open spaces that let the ocean breeze in. Live music and sunset views make it a true beachside paradise.
AMRITSAR
1. Shiso, Amritsar
Amritsar got a culinary upgrade with Shiso, a pan-Asian restaurant founded by Amritsar-based F&B entrepreneurs Vansh Aggarwal alongside Aftab Sidhu, Honey Mishra and Mankaran Johar as management partners. The menu is a celebration of Asian flavors, featuring standout dishes like Kyoto Roast Chicken, Duck Tacos, and Lamb Five Spice. At the bar, mixologist Madhav Singhal pushes creative boundaries with playful Asian-inspired cocktails, including pineapple wines and cryo-frozen concoctions. The Balinese-Japanese-inspired interiors offer an upscale yet relaxed setting, making it a destination for those seeking a refined yet approachable dining experience. With its omakase concept and innovative take on Pan-Asian cuisine, Shiso introduced Amritsar to a whole new world of flavor and flair.
