Director Ali Abbas Zafar is excited about his upcoming political drama, Tandav, which is an Amazon Original Series. The project marks the filmmaker’s digital debut. Produced by Himanshu Kishan Mehra and Ali Abbas Zafar, the 9-episode political drama features an ensemble cast, including Saif Ali Khan, Dimple Kapadia, Sunil Grover, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Dino Morea, Kumud Mishra, Gauahar Khan, Amyra Dastur, Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub , Kritika Kamra, Sarah Jane Dias, Sandhya Mridul, Annup Sonii, Hitten Tejwani, Paresh Pahuja and Shonali Nagrani, among others.
A source says, “Set in the capital city of the world’s largest democracy, Tandav will take viewers inside the closed, chaotic corridors of power and uncover the manipulations as well as the dark secrets of people who go to any lengths in pursuit of power.”
To release on January 15, the project also marks the web debut of veteran actress Dimple Kapadia. Talking about the theme of the series, creator-director-producer Ali Abbas Zafar says, “Through Tandav, we take the audience into the power-hungry world of politics. As you watch the show, you’ll realise that there is no right or wrong, there is no black or white, the world of power is all about greys.”
Zafar adds that what makes this project extra special for him is the quality of its cast. “I believe that content must be backed by credible performances and I am fortunate to have such heavy weights in the show. I’m excited about my debut as a creator-director in the digital domain.”
