Bollywood’s favourite singer, the inimitable Sunidhi Chauhan is passionate about her work. She talks to us about her song Ve Tu and says, “Ve Tu is pure heart. It’s all about love, it’s all about the deep emotions we have as a human beings, as people in love, as people in relationship. I just knew that as soon as I heard this song for the very first time, I felt that there is something special about it.”
She did a non-film song after a long time. She says, “During the lockdown I thought I was a little ready to do something in the non-film space and after doing so many film songs of Jatinder Shah, I thought there could be no one else better than him to tap into this territory for me. Even he wanted to do something in the non-film space with me, but there was a big gap because of lockdown and then I got in touch with him and I told him that now is the time that we should do something, then he made 2-3 songs that he sent me and I completely fell in love with Ve Tu as soon as I heard it. There was something so unique about this song. I have sung so many Punjabi songs as well as romantic songs, but there is something special about this song and I found something new in it. There’s so much love in the lyrics, the tunes are simple yet unique and deep. If you listen to this composition very precisely, you’ll feel the depth of the song.
I just love the whole combination and I think that’s what makes this song special including.” She adds, “I love Punjabi music, maybe that’s why for my song Ve Tu- the person who’s so soulful through his music and who wants to so say much through his music that is for us. I have done so many film songs with Jatinder Shah and I felt that even for a non- film song I must get in touch with him because we really connect and we have a lot of respect for each other.
I really love and admire his music. It had to be him and I’m so glad that he cracked Ve Tu so simply and beautifully. This song is Punjabi but every time I sing it I feel that this song has a unique freshness and newness. That’s what sets this song apart from many songs that I have sung already.”
