Adding another feather to his illustrious cap, ace singer Sonu Nigam’s recent release ‘Jai Chhati Maiyya’ has crossed over 12 million views in less than a week.
The track, released under Sonu’s own music label ‘I believe Music’ was created and conceptualised keeping the Chhatt Puja in mind which will be performed in several parts of the country on the 10th of November. The track is exclusively marketed and distributed by Global Music Junction.
Interestingly, ‘Jai Chhati Maiyya’ has Sonu joining hands with Bhojpuri actor-singer Pawan Singh who enjoys a massive and loyal fan following in the region. ‘Jai Chhati Maiyya’ is Sonu’s way of using his stature to get the youth acquainted with our regional festivals and ceremonies via music, adds a source, “The track is extremely close to Sonu ji’s heart and he’s very pleased with the response. Jai Chhati Maiyya, despite being a regional track, is the biggest song released by I Believe Music. What even more pleasing is that track has given a lot of people a clear idea of the significance and history behind the Chhatt Puja” he adds.

The label also released ‘Karde Karam O devi Maa’, a song dedicated to Lakshmi Maa, on 3rd November. Also Accompanying Sonu for the track were singing icons like Anup Jalota, Suresh Wadkar,Anuradha Paudwal, Shankar Mahadevan, Shaan and Kailash Kher, Pawan Singh among others.
“Jai Chhati Maiyya” and “Karde Karam O devi Maa” are a testament of Sonu Nigam’s truly pan India appeal. The singer, even three decades later never fails to surprise and enthral his legions of fans. While he enjoys the success of the two recent tracks under his label, Sonu also crooned for Times Music’s ‘Om Jai Lakshmi Mata Aarti’, even as he continues to judge Super singer Kolkata.
