Sheeba Akashdeep made her Bollywood debut with Yeh Aag Kab Bhujegi. Interestingly, veteran actor Rekha played a pivotal role in the film. Excited to have shared screen space with someone like her, Sheeba looks back at the memory of making the film with much love.
“The film highlighted the story of a father taking revenge for his daughter being burnt alive by her in-laws for dowry. My first film was made on a very socially relevant topic that is on dowry death. In that film I was burnt for dowry. It was a very intense and beautiful film. My memories with that film are fantastic. One of the first things is that Dimple [Kapadia] ji was a part of the project. However, due to some date issues [Sunil] Dutt Sahab (director of the film) got Rekha ji in her place. I was delighted to work with her, someone I grew up idolising and had posters of her in my whole room. Meeting your idol always feels surreal,” smiles the 90’s popular film actor.
Showering praises on Rekha, she adds, “She was one of the nicest, kindest and sweetest co-stars ever. She was so caring and protective about me. I used to sit in her make-up room and just adore her. Also when one of my dogs passed away she was one of the first ones to reach my home because she herself is a very big dog lover.”
Rekha is considered a diva and Sheeba often met her socially as well over the years. “She’s still a stunning, fantastic and eternal diva and there’s nobody like her. Whenever you meet her no matter how many years later, she’s still eternally very beautiful and smells of mogra. She’s an ICON,” she shares.
So, would you like to work with Rekha again? “Yes, of course, I would like to work with her once again. I absolutely adore her so much,” she is quick to answer.
